Nikolai Kapustin (1937-2020) was a Ukrainian-born Russian musician who received classical music education from a young age and later turned to jazz music, creating a unique style that combined classical structure with jazz elements. As a result, his works gradually spread to various parts of the world. The author of this thesis was also deeply attracted to Kapustin's unique musical style after encountering his works.

The thesis is about the analysis and interpretation of Concerto No. 4 for piano and orchestra, Op. 56 by Nikolai Kapustin. Chapter One describes the research motivation and purpose. Chapter Two explores the composer's life experiences and the historical context of the era, investigating his transition from classical music to jazz and the circumstances of jazz music during that time. Chapter Three analyzes the concerto using the jazz elements used in his work, using sonata form as a basis to divide the musical structure, and interpreting it through the unique playing style of jazz. Finally, Chapter Four presents the conclusion.
