Facing the pressure of the real world, the author finds an outlet to release that pressure through art creation. Combining scenes from dreams and reality, the author creates surrealist settings to soothe the mind and body. Through different content and techniques, the author’s thoughts are materialized on paper, thus forming one’s own style and artistic vocabulary.

This dissertation is divided into five chapters. Chapter One, the Introduction, includes the motivation, research question, method, and terminology. Chapter Two talks about the bibliography on the subconscious and how it operates and manifests itself. The chapter delves further into the creativity of the dream realm and its contribution to artistic creation. Furthermore, the chapter also talks about how eighteen rhetoric skills can be demonstrated in image works. Chapter Three deals with the construct of creativity. It looks at the works of some artists and compares how the author creates and analyzes the styles and media. Chapter Four analyzes twenty pieces of the author’s artworks. The works are divided into four different series—“Forget Me and Forget You,” “Landscape Series,” “Blue/Restricted Space,” and “Traverse/Quadrant”—based on the techniques. Chapter Five reflects on the study and proposes plans for the future.
