An die ferne Geliebte, op. 98 created in 1816. It is a rare work composed of six poems. L. v. Beethoven’s ( 1770 – 1827 ) unique compositional technique integrates six distinct parts into a single whole. They express the author’s longing for his distant lover. The emotion of “ longing “ is the core of this work, and also the main theme of this book.

The main purpose of this study is to explore the connection between the different parts of the work and the meaning behind the emotion of "longing". The author studies Beethoven's life and learns about his relationships with his family, friends, and lovers, to understand who Beethoven was thinking about when he composed this work. The authors also analyze the work through Schoenberg's theory of Grundgestalt, to understand the interconnectedness of the six different parts.

This book is divided into five chapters. Chapter 1 is about the motivation and purpose of the study; scope and methodology. Chapter 2 is the life of Beethoven. Chapter 3 is the life of Jeitteles. Chapter 4 is the analysis and interpretation of the work. Chapter 5 is the conclusion.
