The major purpose of this study is to discuss and to develop the tool of videotape performance assessment for color cognition in elementary schools. For realizing the capability of color cognition in the 6th grade of elementary school students, we have done the assessment as well in this thesis by utilizing the color cognition video tape, the digital video edition and the presentation of each subject for students through video and audio media.
The test subjects consisted of 289 students from 9 6th grade classes in one elementary school. The preliminary test was administered to 87 of the test subjects chosen from three classes. In addition, the experiment was administered to a sample consisting of 202 students from six classes. The experimental group and control group (each with 100 members and 102 members) were given the video evaluation assessment and the pencil-paper test.
Descriptive statistics, t-test and Pearson's product-moment correlation were utilized to testify the video evaluation assessment.
1. The results show that the video evaluation assessment has demonstrated good reliability ( Cronbach α = .7523) and validity.
2. A comparison of the video evaluation assessment pencil-paper test and video evaluation assessment between the experimental group and the control group showed significant differences.
3. There is no significant difference in the analysis of t-test of color cognition among the factors of boy and girl, family income and parental academic background, students’ attitude and attending art cram school or not.
4. This study revealed that those students who participated in the video evaluation assessment were able to make a sharp distinction between those with a greater and those with lesser retention.
5. Due to the continuous advances in computer technologies, the application of audio and video equipments in evaluation assessment would be expected to be more popular and simplified.
