國立臺灣藝術大學 / 多媒體動畫藝術學系碩士班 / Author:Lu,Chia-Yi

The movie industry in Taiwan has been facing a continuous decline. However, directors and movies (e.g., Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon) from Taiwan have won several major international film awards. The conflicting phenomenon has demonstrated that there is no lack of movie talents in Taiwan. Instead, the lack of foreign investments and technical capacity has affected the development of the movie industry in Taiwan. However, rapid developments in computer technology have greatly reduced the costs and risks of special effects in the movie production process. Nevertheless, the lack of special effects talents and capabilities are going to influence the development of the movie industry in Taiwan.

The diffusion of computer and digital camera technology has made amateur movie production affordable and feasible to everyone. Therefore, movie production can become common among non-movie professionals, which can encourage the development of the movie industry in Taiwan.
