The dissertation aims to uncover the unexpressed aspects of the author’s own artworks. Born at the tail end of the 1990s and growing up in the 20th century, the author has experienced a fragmented continuity brought about by the constant interweaving and mixing of the old and new. As a contemporary artist, he has long tried to respond to the constant shifts and to find his own place in the present days.

The idea behind this dissertation first originated in the author’s initial planning for his exhibition “Illusions of All Kinds of Love”. The writing then traces further back to the elements throughout the author’s life that has helped him understand the world and artistic creation, including certain events that took place around him. The author’s creative journey has been heavily influenced by the comics, photography, and movies that he has consumed throughout his growth. And he has always been fascinated by the human emotions that he’s observed.

During his research for the dissertation, the author has looked back at all of his drawings since 2013. By analyzing the changes in creative mediums and in his own mindset, the author reflects upon himself and hopes to reveal his own evolvement throughout the years to the readers.
