This master thesis focuses on a series of image artworks, which is developed on the issue of “home” during author’s graduate school years from 2009 to 2013. Beginning an idea of Taiwan 921 earth quake, which caused disastrous trauma in the growing experience, the trauma was then mixed with the after family ordeal experience and transformed into a series of artistic creations. In the works of reflection, author’s relation between self and home was linked, and the purpose of rebuilding the home by the creation energy is hopefully achieved.

In the process of creation, trauma was automatically chronicled into the memory as a searing-iron, and it emerges subconsciously in the following experiences, leading the concept of “home” to be shaken and collapsing. These complicated elements hidden behind the home make author reflect the attitude towards the trauma incident through creations when facing the real life difficulties. The author believes that home not only serves as the function of a geometric structure, but the poetic structure of sprits, which means that life has to get back to its root and the original status of its own inner space. By tracing back to the past trauma incident and converting it into image creation, the self-existence and value were then found when the author traced back to “home”, the starting point of life.

The form of creations is not confined to one single specific material or technique, and a mixed expression is hopefully used to convey the ideas more accurately, and to achieve self-recognition and self-recovery through this artistic therapy. This is not just a personal inner reflection, but expects to be an effective communication media to make a dialog between the viewers and the artistic works.
