This thesis is about the directing process of Dennis Kelly’s Love and Money, a graduation production which took place at T305 Yi-Wei Yao Experimental Theatre in Taipei National University of the Arts during April 10th to 12th, 2020.

The first chapter elaborates the original intentions and the reasons of making this play as a master-degree graduation production. The second chapter briefly researches the playwright’s backgrounds, writing styles, concerns of the political impacts from theatre and drama, and values of contemporary writings. The third chapter analyzes this play throughout its figures, plots, spoken words and metaphors. The forth chapter explains the director’s conceptions and tries to find the practical possibility in such kinds of instrument or medium in theatre, including space designing, video transportation, acting and so on. The fifth chapter points out the difficulties encountered during rehearsals and productions in order to find solutions to the best form, and tries to figure out the reasons why the difficulties exist, for those who desire to put this play to performance in the future. The sixth chapter looks back to the original intentions of directing this play, and observe the changes of thoughts in between, throughout the experiences and the feedbacks earned.
