The Maze presents an interactive piece that discusses the link between human and virtual objects by implementing spatial augmented reality via projection mapping. It’s an interactive art installation which combines the presenting content, interactive methods, and technical implementations in order to discuss the relationship between the immaterial and physical world. The installation is implemented by projection mapping an interactive motion video onto a v-shaped white origami wall, whereby the shadow and reflecting light intents to attract audiences to stop and experience the art piece. When the audience moves closer to the artworks, they may realize the projection reacts to their presence and learn that they can influence the abstracted shapes with their hands. The interactive art installation consists of the origami, the dynamic film and Kinect.
The dynamically generated motions, that are analogous to one’s inner states, once projected onto the textured origami wall, morphs into the surface images that the audience actually experiences. The audience are incentivized to walk through the open installation and explore the dynamic light and shadows, and then realize their participation would initialize their own discovery and pursuit of enlightenment.
