Regret can be seen as an unfinished or unaccomplished event, originating from Gestalt psychology. The principle of Gestalt psychology maintains that human beings tend to pursue or see things in their entirety; however, an unfinished event destroys this entirety. We all have many regretful experiences such as things that we didn’t manage to do, incapable of doing, or fail to do throughout our whole life. Though we don’t like these regrets, they could be treasured as the rewards of our own life. Nevertheless, regrets can leave sweet memories or bitter torments, which will lead to a deeper understanding of life.

  The aesthetics of Western Tragedy mainly focus on the awareness of the imperfection of life. Aristotle argues that tragedy is the imitation action of solemn and entirety by awaking the feeling of sympathy or fear in order to purify emotion or affections. The purpose of this video work is to explore the regrets of different individuals. The audience can feel not only the aesthetics of the wounds, but can also achieve self-healing by sharing their experience online. Moreover, browsing the online comments and stories of other people can also generate resonations and dialogues.
