Nowadays network becomes a kind of un-neglected power universally and many more people live by it. Different from traditional society, virtual society which is formed by cyberspace is worthy of discussion from political and cultural aspects. This thesis focuses on this point to provide two pieces of digital interactive works named “Provoke” and “Consumer Appetite” to explore the social tendencies and consuming behavior effected by network media conceptually.

The inner desires of people for expressing opinions are always via various forms and channels to achieve. The first artwork of this thesis- “Provoke” discusses this issue by combining the physical sensing device – wii remote and wiki website to enable people to input words for political persons and splash colorful virtual dyestuffs to their pictures by an interactive device to express the provoking behavior of modern people. It is to explain that the freedom of speech is attending large scale to make people “say something” by new media easily. The second artwork “Consumer Appetite” simulates network shopping environment and utilizes hand-touching manipulation. On one hand, it contains the original meaning of grabbing objects, and on the other, it takes fine pictures and texts on online shopping sites as contents to connect people’s online shopping experiences. Re-editing descriptive keywords of selected objects as well as adding music make shopping desires manifest on the melody.
