A Study of Action Research on Integrating the Sixth Grade Folk

Teaching Materials into the Digital Art Curriculum Design in Elementary School

ABSTRACT

To strengthen the digital art creation ability for faraway students, and also to stand out the folk feature of Kou-Hu area of Yunlin county, this study tries to design a series of folk teaching materials to be merged into the digital art curriculum action project to resolve kinds of problems that the digital art curriculum faces, also to use digital camera to instruct students working on the creation of recording art to substantiate the relating action research statements of digital camera teaching, and to use the action research method for the research design, and through the circulated verification and the problem resolution oriented research procedures.

1. To this research, the researcher issues the following targets:

(1) To explore the problems encountered in the sixth grade “Digital Art” curriculum and also proceed in scenario analysis. (2) To research and propose the action project for the sixth grade folk teaching materials to be merged into the “Digital Art” curriculum. (3) To explore the operation procedures of the whole action project. (4) To evaluate and feed back the development result of the action project for the sixth grade “Digital Art” curriculum.

2. Based upon the result of this research, the following important conclusions are issued:

(1) With diversified styles of teaching activities to enhance the ability and creativity of the students in digital art. (2) The diversified learning materials enrich the humanity cultivation. (3) Using the image processing software to support the art creation and increase the confidence and sense of achievements for the students. (4) To integrate the school information equipments for diversified digital art teaching. (5) The strategy of using various models solves the problem which is the object outline drawn by the mouse is unsmooth. (6) The digital art creation enriches the contents of productions, and the color quality varied. (7) The digital art teaching makes students understand easily the knowledge of colors, sense of space, and structure method. (8) The result is fine using the image processing software to simulate traditional paste/draw works. (9) Merging the folk materials could enhance the humanity cultivation for both the student’s works and the love of hometown.

3. Based upon the conclusions of this research, the concrete suggestions for those schools and teachers that are willing to operate digital art curriculum are issued.

(1) Suggestions for schools which are willing to operate the digital art curriculum:

1. Should be good in the maintenance and update the digital art teaching equipments.

2. Integrate the human resource of teachers to establish the research and development team for the digital art teaching curriculum.

3. The teaching of digital art could expand down to the middle and low grades.

(2) Suggestions for teachers who are willing to operate the digital art curriculum:

1. Analyze the factors which affect the curriculum development, and develop the appropriate digital art curriculum.

2. Look for like-minded comrades to proceed in the curriculum action research.

3. Teachers should encourage students to try new media tools, and also use computer related peripherals to the best use possible.

4. Actively and intelligently use teaching strategies, and enhance the whole efficiency of the curriculum.
