Ludwing van Beethoven (1770-1824) is from the Classical to Romantic period, when we talked about the work of Beethoven, most of the symphony or piano’s music attracted our attention and the vocal’s song were neglected, but is reprensentative on Lied. This thesis will be focused on Beethoven’s An die ferne Geliebte OP.98 and about the music of interpretation analyzing. I will be discussing the song cycle synopsis, Beethoven’s life, and synopsis, then poet’s life and music of interpretation analyzing.

An die ferne Geliebte is the frist the Song Cycle in the Lied storic, its consistency of the musical content, motivation and the tone’s transformation influenced to Schubert and Schumann’s song cycle style even. So I will be discussing about the importance of Beethoven’s song cycle, to furthermore understand this composer, and to provide my interpretation for the reader.
