Abstract

Exploring the Ali-mountain forest's imagery in selfward

:On Yi-Tsung Shih's Paintings

For an art worker who is engaged in the artistic creation, it is not easy to display intrinsic emotion by his own way and style. The author has continued exploring the forest art in the Ali-mountain forest creation series during the graduate institute stage. We could see the path of the transformation of changing the forest image into imagery and the exploration to the author’s mind from the research discourse and the painting performance. The author chooses the performance of the forest imagery from life realizing and experience in the environment. In the boundless minds, the way to manifest its visualization is the deepness and spirit of the forest which is closely linked up the author’s inner spirit as to the author’s creations.

The structure of the research discourse contains three major parts: (1) The exploration of the theory foundation and the spirit of the works. (2) The discussion of the form and technique of the creations. (3) The analysis of the work and annotation of the creations. The author has great attention to the forest art, carries on the creation in the Chaiyi Ali-mountain forest, and takes the Ali-mountain cypress as the main object to link up the theory and the creations by the cypress and the forest.

In the first chapter of introduction, the author explains the research motives and the purpose, methods, process, limits and scope of the research.

In the second chapter is the analysis of the forest’s importance in the environment by the meaning and connotation of the forest creation series, taking the forest painters in the art history as examples, and the inspiration to the author’s mind and development of life course with the forest subject.

In the third chapter is an analysis and discussion to the forest creation form and technique.

In the fourth chapter is the separate explanation from the subject connotation and the form by three series, “the Cypress series”, “the Group series” and “the Dialogue series”.

The fifth chapter is the conclusion of this research discussion. The author advances the possibility of the forest creations in the future.
