Inspired by a mother’s everyday life, A Study of Creation of Mother and Children’s Image depicts marriage, family, and career. Themes revolve around working women juggling work and family life and the different phases they experience and overcome and the emotional roller coaster they go through. The artworks reflect the joy and fulfillment of independent, strong working women as well as the feeling of helplessness they feel when faced with many obstacles. The works feature the author’s two children as models, using children’s angelic faces to remind adults of their inner child despite living in a harsh, serious world.
By image analysis and comparison between artworks, the author reflects a mother’s role in the family, praising those selfless mothers who, despite the weakness in spirit, are devoted wholeheartedly to the family. The thesis includes analysis of the artworks of female artists Tsai Shih Yun and Liu Yi Lan about the family burden on women placed by social values; studies of the themes in the artworks of Yoshitomo Nara and Tetsuya Ishida about social care; reviews of the artworks of impressionist artist Mary Stevenson Cassatt and contemporary artist Dmitry Rodzin about the glory of family affection.
In the description of creation, the author uses art to express her emotions. In her children and family, she found the will to be brave and strong and to be an ordinary young woman who is willing to love and care for others and be grateful for everything. The author’s artworks tell the story of her emotional and spiritual growth and reflections on life and also record her children’s innocent and pure childhood as a reminder to herself to live in the moment and contemplate the meaning of life.
