Edvard Grieg, born in 1843, is a Norwegian composer globally well-known for his composition of three violin sonatas. This research involves the last sonata composed in his late lifetime, Violin Sonata No. 3 in C minor, Op. 45. C minor sonata, which outcompetes the rest of his compositions by exhibiting Grieg’s exceptional compositional techniques and conveying contagious musical demonstration. Violin Sonata No. 3 in C minor, Op. 45. C minor Sonata is therefore recognized as a must-performed piece on the repertoire of reputable concerts over the world.

This research includes the biography of Greig, critical analysis of his work, and the interpretation of Op. 45. C minor Sonata as well as my comments on this musical work. Initially, Greig’s biography and the social circumstance of his work will be discussed. Furthermore, chord progression of Greig’s Op. 45. C minor Sonata and the way it is composed will be analyzed in the second chapter. Finally, the results of carried out research and my personal comments will be summarized as a reference for students and scholars in this academic field.
