"Missa" is in the Catholic Mass Norms. Regardless of the language and sequence of the lyrics of the Scriptures, the style of music, the use of musical instruments, and the procedures of the Norms, they all have profound religious significance, resulting in established norms and regulations. The way of presentation, therefore, in the creation of the mass music, it has to conform to its specifications before it is allowed to be used in the Norms.
This thesis explores the Ordinary of the music usage Norms in the Catholic Mass rites and the way to understand the meaning of the Scriptures, referring to the methods of different Oriental composers’ Mass. Following the Norms, retaining the original form and content of the Ordinary, combining oriental music and cultural styles, mixing different languages and sound innovations, etc., I try to create a Missa with the oriental style and sound.
