The Apperception of the Beauty of Life in Performance of J. S. Bach Chaconne:An Interdisciplinary Work of Music and Dance

The Apperception of the Beauty of Life in Performance of J. S. Bach's Chaconne is an interdisciplinary creation in combined with music and dance, performed by a marimba player, Tien-Li Huang and three dancers, Ting-Yu Fan, Mei-Ning Huang and Yuan-Zhen Zhang.The music section is based on Chaconne transcribed by Yao-Guang Zhong with five-octaves concert marimba. It consists a main theme and thirty-two variations. The dance section will be performedby three dancers in modern dance.

Creator transform she life experience into the invisible melody language of music and visible body language of dance and reflect as well as explore the beauty of life from the end of life-death, with the aim of making audience understand the brevity and preciousness of life and thus, to rethink the attitude towards life, comprehend and appreciate all the people and things. Creators interpret musical characteristics of different variations respectively based on different stages of life experiences. According to tonality, "The Apperception of the Beauty of Life in Performance" of J. S. Bach’s Chaconne is divides into three parts, "the comprehension of pain", "the sublimation of love", "the beauty of Life".

Both music and dance interpret various emotions and feelings of life with a symbolic performance technique. Each segment is a different experience in the creator's life. By integrating the process and reflection of the soul settlement into art and passing the technique of the performance through interdisciplinary art, the audience will be guided to understand the beauty of life that the creator would like to express.
