Hsin-Pin Lin, a native composer of Taiwan, has been quite active in recent years. She used to be a Yangqin professional performer and later studied composition in the United States. Furthermore, Lin has participated in producing albums of pop music. These diverse musical experiences make Lin's works distinct.

Lin composed innovative works for Yangqin, not only with beautiful melodies but also with new challenges for performing. The thesis focuses on two of Lin’s works, “The Beauty of Dawushan” and “Rainbow on Mahebo Mountain”, concertos for Yangqin. Both works are based on Taiwan’s aboriginal music and cultures. By means of document analysis, music analysis, interview analysis and music interpretation, the study analyzed the aboriginal elements in the music and interpret how Lin created the new sounds and challenging performing skills with Yangqin. Besides, the detailed information collected from the interview is an important reference for the future performers while performing these two works of Lin’s.
