The idea of subjectivity has long drawn countless artists, writers, and philosophers to create, portray and ponder for it. Through the imagination, reconstruction, and interpretation of their works, the fluidity and mouldability is revealed. Everything starts to gain meanings when a subject sees and interacts with the surroundings, but when subjectivity is misunderstood or distorted by the subject or others, these meanings cause conflicts between desires, cognitions, and the outside world. Struggling between appearances and truths, self-identity is getting vague and blurring, which leads to various kinds of alienation. This research temps to analyze three different aspects of alienation based on personal experiences and discuss through the theories and the perspectives of Jacques Lacan. Following by three experimental films I created. 《Stranger》,《The 13th Monologue》 and 《Limbo》 deconstruct the senses of visual and hearing, not only rebuilding the awareness and the cognition of the subjectivity, but also discussing the process of alienation. Finally, this thesis raises a question: Through art, can salvation be achieved in pursuit of subjectivity?
