數位拳譜-以太極拳為例-1

Traditional Martial Arts focuses on spiritual approach and verbal communication. It is difficult, even for skilled masters of martial Arts, to transmit in verbal or graphic forms, a complete knowledge of their traditional practice to their apprentices. The two dimensional (2D) illustrations in traditional manuscript, and Wen-Yen language of these books could hardly help students in Martial Arts. One of the main problems is that most of these apprentices study Martial Arts part-time, without a daily support of their masters, and they lack of practice time. Thence, a majority of students are not able to memorize original text, or mixed up order in which to execute the different figures. The goal of this project is to use motion capture, 3D computer animation, visual reality in Simulation and switching point of view. This new technologies allow to see these movements from different points of view, and even to change camera angles for a better understanding. Applied to Tai Chi Chuan, as a study case, this project will led to a digitalized manuscript, that could be use for a long-life learning processing. The users will wear a Head-Mounted Display, which he can get the view as either first person or third person in watching and reach the visualized experience of immersion. This tool will give a dynamic and totally renewed approach for learning traditional Tai Chi Chuan. Compared to video tape in the market, digitalized manuscript will combine new technologies, art, culture, and a high level of digital content applied to the self-learning of Traditional Martial Arts.
