An Analysis and Interpretation of F. Chopin’s Mazurkas Op. 6-3, 17-2, 33-2, 50-3 and 67-4
Widely known as a patriotic, Polish pianist-composer, Frédéric François Chopin (1810-1849) composed numerous piano works throughout his lifetime. Among all works, the “Mazurkas”, symbolized most his love and affection towards motherland. He utilized the original rhythm and musical elements from the folk dances including the “Mazur”, “Oberek” and “Kujawiak”, and combined with the combination of his own unique composing technique, to this series of exquisite Mazurkas.
This thesis focuses on research of the Mazurka Op. 6-3, 17-2, 33-2, 50-3 and 67-4. By exploring the composer's background and composition style, also the origin and development of the "Mazurkas", the author shall like to provide insight of interpretation by analyzing the above mentioned works.
