國立臺南藝術大學 / 動畫藝術與影像美學研究所 / Author:MENG, ZONG-RUMENG

In the way of communication between animals and humans, the biggest difference is the use of language. In general, the way animals convey emotions is less dependent on facial expressions, but more body movements are used to express them. This thesis attempts to explore the emotional expression techniques of animals in animation through narrative animation images, which includes the relationships between human beings and animals as well as between animals. On top of that, another goal of the work is to display different character designs within the framework of different world views. The work《Finding Kitty》will put into practice and record the results of animal emotion expression based on the previous animation short film.

The first chapter of this thesis will start from the related narrative animation context in the past, and then summarize the motivation and purpose of this paper; the second chapter will analyze the film and television programmes which are more prominent in the use of animal emotional expression; the third chapter will detail the whole work of《Finding Kitty》and the text, the storyboard as well as other reference materials of the story will be discussed separately; the chapter four is the production record of《Finding Kitty》, in which personal views will be discussed for each production segment. Lastly, the chapter five will summarize the thinking method of this thesis, whether it is consistent with the expected results and make a summary of a personal prospect.
