The subject matter of this artistic production is derived from the inspiration of daily life and the author’s inner spirituality. This art practice research is based on the author’s observation, imagination, and transformation of the natural images into ink paintings. The images of geese and plantains are selected as the main symbols to express feelings and thoughts. Some other images, like train, are also involved to enrich the meaning of the works.
This thesis includes five chapters. Chapter1, introduction, includes research motivation, purpose, method, process, terms explanation and limitation. Chapter2, literature review, focuses on the perspectives of related western and eastern aesthetics. Chapter3, the ideas and practice of the art series, includes the artist’s life experiences and the feelings about nature. Chapter4, artwork analysis, contains three series of artworks: ” contemplation of nature”, “concerns of humanity”, and “feelings and thoughts in images”. Each artwork is analyzed by the categories of artistic idea, content, and form. Chapter5, conclusion, involves summary and reflections, the meaning and value of this research, as well as future expectation and direction of further research.
