The purpose of this project is to rethink the human-nature relationship, and reflect the fundamentals of life through flowers and plants by pressed flower. Like all the ups and downs in our lives, flowers bloom and wither with cycles of the seasons. Everything in life is art. Even twigs, petals or leaves could be transformed into figures, symbols and concepts of life in an art form of pressed flower .
This project is composed of three series:
1. Imagistic series: Inspired by abstractionism, this series reveals the absolute subjectivity from the deep inside beyond the materials and objects themselves.
2. Mobius Strip series: Inspired by Mobius Strip, this series explores the possibilities of “plants in painting” with the usage of different medium.
3. Specimen series: The art of pressed flower was evolved from plant specimens. In this series, the author studied plant diversity in Taiwan back and forth in time between the present and the period of Japanese rule, which preserved lots of plant specimens, opening a conversation of plants between now and then.
Through the process of rethinking and recreation, the author brings plants and flowers to a transcending level of themselves, showing a distinct form of art and creativity.
