This thesis’ topic is “Infra-Portrait - Re-Exploring the Significance of the Linear Subconsciousness and the Abstract Meaning Portrait”, there are five chapters.
In this thesis, the first chapter illustrates the motive, purpose and defines the ideal of creation; the second chapter, it starts from the context of portrait and to do a brief comparison about style and value of Eastern and Western portrait. “Portrait” plays an important role in Eastern & Western traditions, the tradition of portrait request real or there are different factors or implications about the painter and the employer relations. And I quote the theory “the analyzing of subconscious” of Carl Gustav Jung and “Mirror stage”of Jacques Lacan to explore the relevance about subject and “the other” , to confirm the positioning of creation. The third chapter, it is the concept of creation；the fourth chapter, I will analysis and explain my series of works and the fifth chapter is the conclusion.
In this thesis, "Infra-portrait" is my creative topic, and the meaning of Infra-portrait is portrait in below, and it is a dialogue with the subconscious of subject and the subconscious of the other. Use of “the other” to clarify the meaning of object relates to me, and joins with my subconscious dreams, to achieve research purposes about self-identification .
The artistic form of expression, the linear is mainly an element because it is the most basic element in the form, when it adequate performance, linear writing will become the language of artistic expression. Moreover, I attempt the construction of a portrait, as I use the characteristics of printmaking to overlap images and to weaken every independent individual of portraits. Relatively, appear every independently individual, I do not describe the portrait on objective. But try to interpret the subconscious of mind immediately, to the object, I use the feelings to draw and spill. And this accounted for a considerable proportion of the emotions are anger and distorted. Finally, I try to exclude the rationality of arrangement, as I finished the composition of works by random and accidental factors.
