From Modern to Contemporary: The Transition in Art Perspective and Its Mergence—— Reflections on Set Design “The Grown-Up”

國立臺北藝術大學 / 劇場設計學系碩士班 / Author:CHEN, YI-JIUN

In this starry universe, each twinkling light is like an artist who burns his life to create a lasting work to convey his viewpoints and thoughts. These brainchildren express the messages and ideas of times, on the other hand, they also provide us with multiple perspectives and reflection aspects, which bring us the driving force for changes. The discourse starts from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, then goes through the development of theatre and visual arts respectively until the present time. Along the timeline, I observe and analyze the trend and phenomenon towards times, and explore the actual cases of intermediality between theatre and visual art. Gradually reclassifying and summarizing this huge amount of stars from my own perspective, and turn the galactic clusters into broader and more diverse dimensions for my designing process. Lastly, in my graduation production - "The Grown-Up", I reviewed the script analysis and the production process. Lastly, I looked back and examined the deficiencies and blind spot in my design concepts and process at that time.
