A Critique Essay on thesis Graduation Film Don’t Let Her Out

This thesis film Don’t Let Her Out is a suspense and crime thriller, starring Annie Chen, Roc Chen and Ying-Hung Li. This film is written and directed by Fox Lee. Don’t Let Her Out is a film based on several factual social events and represented in a realistic way to emphasize the authenticity of the whole story.

The film explores three young people trying to break into an vacant and abandoned house to do a series of criminal acts; however, the empty house is quietly changing at the same time and nobody is in sight. Through the adventures of three young people, we can see their personalities have been emphasized; moreover, the audience will use the perspective of the onlookers to unveil the secrets in the empty house. The lens movement will be smoothly from the beginning of the film, and gradually change to the hand-held state to add a sense of presence. Mixing high/low color is a way to highlight the transition of the plot and strengthen the audience’s tremor.

The film presents a story of a night from an objective perspective of the third party and starts the discussion with a production perspective and discusses a short film of a commercial theme. From subject development, fundraising, and filming, to post- production and face-to-face with the audience to understand the public's thoughts on this themes, and we can try to discuss and extend the development of this kind of film in the future.
