This dissertation starts with the author's learning process. From sketching the scene to the understanding of the state of art, and then with the extension of the experience of travel, it realizes the state of mind of the ancients’ saying, one feast their eyes with traveling, connects the experience of life "Art reflecting Life", and finally thinks about the inner feelings of "Observing and exploring the appearance of "Water". In the change of time and space, the shape and quality are transformed through the state of mind, creating the environment according to the heart, and evolving with the artistic trend of thought. This study tried to create more multiple landscapes, giving contemporary spirit into ink painting.
To discuss based on theory, it is divided into four parts: "Exploration of Traditional Landscapes", "Image and Form", "Shape, Quality and Charm of vitality", and "Essence Unable to Tell" to explain the time, space, inner nature and outer nature of "Seemingly-True Being and False Being". This dissertation goes through the induction, refinement, transformation of the image, and internalization of the sense between object and ego to achieve "the realm of personification of objects".
The creation concept of water's multi-faceted features, corresponding to the concept of "Seemingly-True Being and False Being", uses "image analysis of water", "dots and lines", "ink and color", "change and creation from imagination", and analyzes the diverse changes of nature image through literature research. The beauty is naturally contained. It is formed by points, lines, and surfaces. From traditional theory, “Breath-resonance-life-motion” to modern concept, diversity of plastic expression, they all play different tunes with the equal skill of "searching for the wonderful and creating the truth".
The creation and practice are divided into four series, "The Source of Water", "The Love of Water", "The Change of Water", and "The Rhythm of Water". Water exists in nature in three states. Through observation and cognition, the three-state flow is expressed in the creation. This creation shows water from the beauty of appearance to its related meaning and metaphysical symbolism, as the ancients said, "To let the eye travel over the great scenes and to let the fancy free". The author hopes that the above-mentioned research and analysis will bring the creation closer to the "art of life and life of art".
