Abstract

Malcolm Arnold is a famous British composers of the twentieth century, conductor and trumpet player. He devoted his life to creating songs, renowned in British music, and in 1993 was knighted by the Queen of England, and in appreciation of his contribution to British music. Arnold is a prolific composer, whose works include a symphony, movies, music, ballet, Overture, symphony, chamber music works, instruments Concerto, pipe music ensemble, piano, etc., whose works blend of century compositional techniques, styles of jazz in the United States and the United Kingdom, the traditional folk songs, of which the most famous works of its nine symphonies.

Works explored in this paper Concerto for oboe and strings op.39, The early works of his composing career. Is dedicated to the famous British oboist Leon Goossens. Arnold, although at the atonal music of the twentieth century, from generation to generation, but the work tends to be conservative, belonging to atonal music, which combines traditional English folk song,its melody and smooth sounds, one of the characteristics is his creation.

This thesis is divided into three parts to study investigated the first part of discussion the Malcolm Arnold's biography, the musical style and music background, the second part of the creative approach to the rational angle analysis of music, and finally the third part, integrated music song analysis, thus providing music song interpretations and recommended practice methods expect the song playing friends in the future reference.
