Achille Claude Debussy (1862-1918) contributed a lot in the aspects of musical works and its history in the Romantic period. Both art songs and piano pieces are the greatest hits in concert repertoire list. This thesis is going to discuss on two art songs album by Debussy, Fetes Galantes I and Fete Galantes II. These two albums include six art songs: “En sourdine”, “Fantoches”, “Clair de lune”, “Les Ingénus”, “Le Faune”, and “Colloque sentimental”. This thesis is going to introduce several areas: Biography of Debussy, general history in late 1900s, characteristics of Debussy’s composition, analysis of music form, and Debussy’s aesthetics towards music and the vocal style of his works. In summary, there is not only the integration of the thesis, but also point out the importance of Fete Galantes in his biography and in Romantic period.
