Pursuing is a continuous self-actualization process based on the respect and enthusiasm for life. It is a journey of self-discovery starting with self-awareness. Nevertheless, the connection between memory and presence is not absolutely disassociated, nor is continued without qualification. This further proves the existence of life and complexly unites every individual life.

This research illustrates that memory could be utilized as the entrance to self-perception. The self is an observer of the exterior world, which is a creation of the past. In addition, it explores the impact of the interaction of nature and culture on self-identity. Moreover, the thought is manifested by the transmission of the combination of image and multimedia, as well as literature review, related artistic work analysis and creation methodology.

The purpose of this research is to demonstrate the track of pursuing in the past and the reflection of pursuing at present, and examine the diversity of image artistic work creation. The content of this research has been divided into several sections. First, Chapter One introduces the background, motivation and framework of this research. Next, in Chapter Two, literature review of “the thought of pursuing” investigates creation and pursuing, the drive of pursuing, freedom and responsibility of pursuing, thoughts of pursuing. Then, Chapter Three, which is inspired by related literatures of representations of memory transmission, includes image as the memory transmission, image transformation in art history, impact of image and the reading of image. Also, creation statement in Chapter Four explains the author’s creation process, examination of creation representation, and concept of artistic work. Finally, the implication of this research, conclusion and further research can be seen in Chapter Five.

The realities of image do exist only in the moment we see and choose them. The key to choosing is developing the capability not only to suspend our assumptions but to redirect our awareness toward the generative process that lies behind what we see. Furthermore, artistic work creation makes it possible to see connections that may not have been visible before.
