A Creation Description of the Animation “Grab”'s Cover

Temporarily unlisted

This work, “Grab”, is a 4-minute short animation rendered in 2D. By using role play, ”Grab” gradually illustrates the interaction of the characters in the story. The thesis is divided into five parts. The first chapter is the introduction. The second chapter explores the grab-related animations and their semiotics, as well as the design of the angel and the devil. The third chapter focuses of the content. The fourth chapter describes the animation production process. The fifth chapter is the conclusion.

This story has three main characters, the angel, the devil, and the little puppet. The plot of ”Grab” begins with a world with only angel and devil. One day, the appearance of a little puppet causes the angel and the devil’s attention. They both want to have the puppet. Therefore the angel and the devil fight with each other for grabbing the puppet. The puppet soon is torn apart. Since the puppet is no longer perfect, the angel disguises the puppet while the devil has the sympathy on the puppet. As the result, the angel and the devil switch each other’s identity. The angel transforms into a devil and the devil becomes an angel. By telling the story I want to express that one’s appearance doesn't necessarily serve as an accurate reflection of his or her heart.

The story tells us that one can’t judge a person by his or her appearance. By watching “Grab”, I hope the audience can be drawn into this magical and meaningful work.
