The discussion and interpretation dizi music “Lang Ye Shen Yun”

Yu Xun Fa was a contemporary art musician who combined the dizi’s faction of South and North. He had a great contribution to the pursuit of dizi timbre, the use of performance skills, and the presentation of musical mood. The “Lang Ye Shen Yun” was created by Yu Xun Fa in 1983. This song was inspired by Ou Yang Xiu’s “Story of Old Tippler’s Pavilion” by the Northern Song Dynasty poet. The rhythm and poetry of “Kun Qn” were used in the song. And Yu Xun Fa’s original playing skills such as “Tan Tu” and whistling make this song more distinct.

This paper consists of four sections: Chapter one is the introduction; chapter two discusses the composer’s background and composing characteristics to further probe into the composing concept and style of the “Lang Ye Shen Yun”; chapter three is an analysis of the musical structure and about the author’s personal interpretation toward this piece; finally, chapter four is the conclusion based on the integration of the former researches.
