“Who’s the Bad Wolf” is an augmented reality (AR) mobile game. The background story extends from the classic fairy tale “Little Red Riding Hood”. The narrative construction in this game is based on evocative space which enable players to experience storytelling under the interactive environment. Such experience could help players to subvert their old cognition of the original story. Furthermore, through the combination of real-world and virtual environment that provided by AR, players can immerse themselves in the game as if they were actually in a children’s picture book thus uncover various aspects of evil. Literature review started from discussion of game evocative space, followed by AR and analysis of AR mobile games, finally, complimented by the game’s storytelling design as well as application of AR technology.

The game is powered by Unity 3D, with iOS’ ARKit for AR development. The visual style of assets from cards to in-game art resembles that of a 2D picture book. The environment was constructed in 3D but rendered as 2D. It presents to player as true-to-life scale which is as immersive as a true picture book. As the story unfolds, players can use cards to interact with virtual objects. The use of cards can also cause the storyline to branch out, allowing different cognitions to play out.
