Taiwan's fruits are famous in the world, not only because Taiwan a richer soil, a better atmosphere but also has the well-developed agricultural technology, like grafting, which is always used by farmers. Grafting is a way to make the quality of fruits to become more stable, and to reduce the growing time, it is indispensable for entering the international market. By picking bonding different varieties breeds together, farmers want to achieve maximum profit, therefore they try to grow popular, uniform quality, easy managed and fast growing fruits to the market which is monopoly by capitalism. On the one hand, these fruits lack of individual feature and genetic polymorphism. As a result, these domestic fruits can't deal with a crisis when climate change.
According to the postmodern ecologism, this creative research takes sllices of Taiwan's grafted fruits photographs by macro photography to show how these fruits were deprived of growing rights. I chose the part which was abandoned by human beings to simulate the growth process and enlarged the "useless part" of these fruits with macro photography. By enlarging the "useless part" and the growing part to make strong contrast and emphasize the absurdity. I also used intense color to catch viewer’s eyes and even made them feel uncomfortable. To mimic human beings slicing fruits and to arrange them to rebuild the look of these fruits then to replace the growth by photographing, I hope that due to these processes can make viewers to consider the relationship between technology and nature.
