This art piece utilizes cracking patterns on the surface of the glass itself. The thin cracking surface is formed artificially and then filled in between the cracks with glaze. The thin layer of cracks on the surface ceased to penetrate the entire art piece yet portrays sense of uncertainty, genuinely depicts the impact of life from outer and inner influence. New life is given to the art piece by discovering deepest parts of human nature, thus every piece is unique. I am embarking on a mission to break the traditional notion that only total integrity of an art piece can be deemed artistic. Also by studying the cause of the cracking pattern, and conducting experiments on the effects of temperature on glass, I could challenge the elusiveness of glass and find an appropriate future path.

The cracking pattern resembles the journey of life. Only by penetrating the content can we then realize that creating art is exactly like living a thorough life. Continuously learning from mistakes and fixing them is essential. There are three objectives for my art creation:

(a) Analyzing the characteristics and process of glass art techniques.

(b) Discovering the possibility of surface cracking patterns.

(c) Presenting “ the beauty of cracking patterns”.

“The Beauty of Cracking Patterns” is interpreted by the characteristics of glass art and technical process. From sympathizing the fact that life is constantly faced with “Reunion” and “Departure”, my creation of art is composed of four series: 1. Ideas series, 2. Deep cracks series, 3. Erosion series, 4. Reunion series.
