The research subject of this thesis is on five-movement suite Miroirs by French composer Maurice Ravel. In the Introduction the aims and methods used for this research explained. Chapter II investigates how the arts, culture and historic events impacted the style of the music. Chapter III takes a closer look at the life and work of Maurice Ravel. Chapter IV explores piece by piece the concepts behind each of the five-pieces of Miroirs. Chapter V lays out some advice of techniques, touch and pedaling. Some thoughts of Miroirs’s interpretation is provided as well. Chapter VI is the conclusion of the thesis.
