In the past 13 years, Taiwan public animal shelters caught 1,363,610 stray dogs and cats and among those, 1,108,716 never made their way out of the shelters. More than million innocent lives disappeared in this world because they were completely defenseless for themselves when they face the persecution of human beings. Does anyone know they ever existed? How many people knew the brutal truth?

I started serving as a volunteer at the shelter in 2011. I was overwhelmed by the dog barks, the heavy smell of excrement in the air, as well as all those innocent eyes when I first stepped into the cages at the shelter. Among the days I volunteered in the shelter, I have seen so many dogs wagged their tails at me and I have hold so many of them in my arms, but now, they only exist in a picture on the wall and in my memories. Therefore, I wish to voice for these unfortunate lives through artistic creation.

The creation simulates the environment in the exhibition hall through reproduction with multiple forms of media to tell the real life process. The exhibition is using media such as voice, video and installation art to present the environment of a shelter and the life of stray dogs in the shelter, so that the viewers can learn more about shelters and stray animals through such experience.

The most fundamental intention of the creation is to arouse public awareness of animal issues, especially the situation of companion animals. This is hoping to voice for all these animals also to communicate and reflect with the viewers, and to put more emphasis on the issues of respecting and caring for life through artistic creation.
