This research is based on the author's study and reflection on the process of animation creation in graduate school, from the experience of accompanying a family member with dementia to observing the impact of memory loss on the daily lives of family members through observing and studying different works, and then extending to the author's final animation work "Grandma's Special Fabric".

This short animation film is about an elderly woman’s experience with fabric in her life. Having dementia in her old age, she is unable to have a normal memory trace and loses her fabric bag. With the aid of her granddaughter, they repair the damage and create a new memory together. The whole film is a mixed media animation that combines 2D hand painting and mixed media.

In the first chapter, the author reviews her creative works in the past and works that inspired her personal creation; in the second chapter, she considers how to use images to build relationships with relatives and compensate her grandmother's loss of memory by examining literature and analyzing images and picture books, and then extends her arguments through these points. In the third chapter, the conceptualization of "Grandmother's Special Fabric" is followed by an analysis of the process and concept of this work from idea to completion; finally, the author concludes her reflections on her present creative practice and learning process, and her future creative vision.
