國立臺灣藝術大學 / 音樂學系 / Author:JIANG, HAN

The research of Taiwanese composers and music development plays a crucial role in the study of cross-strait music development. The author was fortunate to come to Taiwan to study and have a strong interest in related research. I was deeply attracted by Guo Zhiyuan's vocal music works (1921-2013). His works are numerous and diverse, in which the solo art songs are the most classical and of great artistic value. Many of the solo art songs are very popular and respected by singers. Explore, study and sing his artistic songs is almost a task that most Taiwanese singers have to fulfill.

The study of Guo Zhiyuan's vocal music works is one of the important media of the cross-strait cultural blending. It is also an important topic to enrich the study of Taiwan composers and vocal music works. Furthermore, the study of Guo’s artistic songs is an indispensable part of the study of his vocal music works. Based on the six classical art songs of Guo Zhiyuan, namely "Liangzhou Ci", "Yu Mei Ren", "Fengqiao Night berth", "Spring Drunken Expressions", "Moon Night in Baocheng" and "Red Rose", this paper sorts out the development of Taiwan music in the past hundred years.

The foundation for the understanding of Guo’s music works are laid using the introduction of his artistic career. Detailed classification, analysis and summary are made for his six works.

Through the analysis of the tonality, structure, rhythm and interval of his works and the understanding of the author and the background of his works, the author dissects the background and emotion of his works from different levels, angles and aspects. The understanding of his works is interpreted using the method of practical singing. The author's understanding and love for Guo’s works are shown through live performance and second creation. Hopefully future references can be provided.
