Make a comprehensive view of the history of Poland, it had been occupied by several foreign powers and lead to secession. This brings patriotism into most Poles’ mind, including Chopin. Chopin got huge influenced by the Polish national music, and the strong characteristic of music gave him lots of ideas as he express his patriotism in Mazurka and Polonaise. Mazurka is more like a portrait of his daily emotions while the Polonaise reflects more of his love to the country and his distinctive aesthetic. By recurring the greatness of the Poland empire and moaning the current regime of Russian empire on his beloved land, his blood of patriotism flows throughout the works.

The topic of this research focuses on the analysis of Chopin’s Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante in E-flat Major, Op. 22. Created in the 1830s, this work conbined both the emotion of Nocturne and the beat of Polonaise while being one of the few works composed for piano and Orchestra. The research includes four parts. First is about Chopin’s career and introducing the characteristic of Dances . Second chapter is the introduction of Polonaise .Third chapter emphasizes on the analysis of Andante Spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante in E-flat Major, Op. 22. The last chapter is the conclusion of the research , elaborating how this research helps not only the utilization of skill in the work but also how I can interpret the deeper meaning in this works.
