The compositional style of Franz Liszt was significant for its virtuosic feature, the use of thematic transformation technique, and transcriptions, especially his piano works. Just because of this, the works of his other types such as organ works, opera, lieder are often neglected. In『Années de Pèlerinage, Deuxième Année: Italie, S161, 1839-1849』, it has included compositions inspired from literature and arts.

This thesis contains four chapters: Liszt’s biography and his music performance style are described in Chapter 1; The biography of Petrarca, analyses and interpretation of 『Three Petrarca Sonnets, S270, 1844-1845』 are illustrated in detail at Chapter 2; At Chapter 3, through the analyses of music form and structure to present the characteristic of the music; Chapter 4 will deal with to singing annotating and skill, try to show the musical spirit and compositional intension can be shown by performing.
