The Six Violin Sonatas and Partitas by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) are very important violin works in the Baroque period. This thesis studies how to play the musical works of Baroque dance suites with modern violin and bows exemplifying the first violin suite of Bach.

Since each dance piece and its double has unique characteristics regarding tempo and rhythm, this study explores how to interpret each dance piece and its double through musicology analysis followed by exploring the application of bows and fingering, cadence performance and characteristics of the tempo.
