Jade gemstone craft and lacquer craft are two of the most representative materials in the oriental craft aesthetics. The natural characteristics, colors and inherited craftsmanship of the materials are all representatives of traditional oriental aesthetics. Being an exchange student studying abroad in Europe, the artist was greatly influenced by the Western aesthetics and also by observing daily life. After returning to Taiwan, she began to make different changes in her creation. Combining Western design thinking and oriental craft materials, the artist named her creation topic as “Beyond Jade”. Taking daily life as a creative element and observing nature in a microscopic view, this series of artwork was created via the transition of material perception and abstract thinking viewpoint. The artist relates to the artwork as it is a reminder of her true self. Living with a mind full of infinite imagination and facing problems with different mentality. She has rediscovered herself through the process of creating and also gained some unexpected surprises.
