Family relations need dedication and attention. Especially, in families with school-age children, parent-child relations and husband-wife relations would face challenges. There have been many television works focusing on this period of time in families, taking audience to explore family issues from children’s perspectives.

This study aimed to explore the issues related to school-age children and their families. From the psychological functions of families and the relations between school-age children and their families, this study went deeper into parent-child communications and communications in marriages, and further discussed and analyzed 7 films on family issues from narrative perspectives of children in families. This study concluded that school-age children would actively participate in family activities while facing the challenge of the low point of the marital satisfaction of their parents. These conclusions were used as a theme for developing a script. Then, from these works with children’s narrative perspective, it was found that the features including children’s low statuses in their families, unreliability, and rich imagination can help enhance the stories’ suspension and visual effects. Thus, this study referred to the merits of these 7 films to create a 3D animated short film from children’s perspective with suspension and good visual effects.
