“The Birth” is a short film about a father-daughter relationship. The author of the

original story, who also served as the director of the film, created this collaborative work

with Ms. Han Lin.

Many disturbing stresses in life make people feel Armageddon is happening at this

very moment. We could not escape ourselves from being drowned in these emotional tidal

waves, and we could not help think hope is gone and dream is broken. However, tomorrow

will always be here. Therefore, I want to describe the story of “Armageddon in a person”

which conveys the lack of confidence and faith when facing the present and the future in

life’s enormous and severe frustrations. Through the communication between the father and

daughter, the story shows the courage of finding the power and courage of moving forward.

The main plot began with that Little Ai just learned she got pregnant right before she

has long prepared herself to leave the country and study overseas. Worried and panicked,

she returned to the old house that her father lives alone to seek his assistance. As they were

having dinner for the first time after a while, Little Ai just realized it was her father’s

birthday. She wanted to reveal the pregnancy to him during his birthday celebration.

Surprisingly, before she had a chance to speak in this regard, he confessed the secret that he

has been a homosexual. Immersed in all the astonishing surprises, Little Ai understood

everyone has to bear different weighs on his or her own shoulders in life. Looking at her

happy father, she chose not to share the pregnancy and dealt with it by herself.

This film illustrates the storyline with realistic photography and acting styles in order

to vividly present the complex emotional twitch in characters. The content of this
