The Analysis and Interpretation of Sinfonische Kanzone for Flute and Piano by Sigfrid Karg-Elert/Hsun-Yun Liang Graduation Recital
Sigfrid Karg-Elert(1877-1933)is a German composer at the end of the nineteenth century, was known for his early harmonium. and organ work. His works have the characteristics of late romanticism, and became one of the few composers who could move between tonality and atonality in the early 20th century.
During his creative career, Elert wrote more than 200 works. This Sinfonische Kanzone is an earlier work of his chamber music, which belongs to the post-romantic.
There are five chapter in the thesis. The first chapter explains the research’s motivation and direction. The second chapter introduces the life and the compose style of Karg-Elert
, then go further to know the background of The Sinfonische Kanzone. The third chapter Analyze Sinfonische Kanzone composed by Sigfrid Karg-Elert based on the form and style, the character as well as the composing techniques.The forth chapter demonstrates the analysis and interpretation. Last but not least, the fifth chapter summarizes the above research and makes a conclusion.
