It is believed that people can know themselves in the process of art creation. The author of this book uses paintings and pictures to analyze herself. The paintings and pictures show how each person faces his/her life and how his/her life is constructed.

The topic is “One Egle.” The sound of “one” in Chinese is “e-ge” which is familiar with the word “Egle.” The word “one,” a number, represents a person. The word “ego” is the self which sounds like the number “one” in Chinese. Moreover, Eagle, a kind of birds, sounds like the number “one” in Chinese as well. It is easy to understand why the author chooses the word ego. As for the word “eagle,” it is because that is a lasting memory of the author. When the author was in her childhood, the author’s grandmother used to repeat telling stories about eagles. Due to the reason, eagles have been taking part in the author’s life unconsciously. Therefore, the author combines the two words into a new word “egle.” The newly created word is actually an existing word, Picea asperata, in Latvian. Picea asperata grow in a cold weather, and the trees look like clouds when viewing far. The characteristics of Picea asperata are their lengths, toughness and longevity. The above characteristics are the expectations that the author hopes to gain during the process.

The author uses paintings with mixed media and photographs to create 3 different types of works. The works are shown through continuous images. With the differences of mixed media, the relationships between time and spatial mismatches of multiple mental images can be displayed. Furthermore, mixed image mismatches are re-integrated, thus the images and the history of mental images can be shown. Through the images, the author can reflect on her self-awareness, self-construction and self-memories. The works are created based on the ego, also the memories of the author.

The thesis tends to present emotions of the author and stories in the thesis. The table of contents consists of stories of self-understanding and self-construction of the author. The thesis also investigates how different artists in different eras understand and present themselves through diverse images. In Chapter 1, the author uses daily sketches to search for herself and make up her own story. In Chapter 2, creation methods and artistic moods of other famous artists are investigated. In Chapter 3, the author discusses how to design your own work, what you should know when manufacturing your work and how to organize an exhibition.
