國立臺灣藝術大學 / 應用媒體藝術研究所 / Author:Chang,Ying-Ming

Foreign spouses (foreign immigrants) is not a new issue in Taiwan nowadays. According to the historical fact, Taiwan is a country of immigrants and absorbs diverse cultures to develop its own mosaic culture.

This documentary takes the government-held course, which is originally aimed at adult education, for example. With the population of foreign spouses increasing, the government regulates that foreign spouses can have their Taiwanese nationality only by passing the language examination or attending language courses. Therefore, the entry-level language courses for foreign spouses are established around Taiwan.

Teacher Hwang and volunteer Wang are two of those who devoted themselves to foreign spouses’ education. They take care of the students’ life and visit their places. From their experiences of teaching, we see an epitome of Taiwan’s adult education for foreign spouses.
